James Cyril Williams

My due date was July 10th 2012, which also happened to be my best friends birthday.

Unfortunately my due date came and went, i kept myself busy by setting up our new house or running next door to bug my new neighbors. I went in for a NST on the 16th and James failed a few aspects of the test so they sent me next door to the hospital to get an ultrasound to make sure my guy was doing OK. Luckily he was just fine a little squished but over all he looked great. I went back to my OB with my results and she decided to give him a few days but decided to schedule me for an induction on the 19th.

I was a million emotions rolled into one, i was excited to finally meet my little man but i was terrified at the same time. So we went home and prepared for our little mans arrival.
The night before my induction i couldn't sleep at all. We were supposed to call at 6 am to see if they had room for us to come in. I was awake by 5 and waited patiently for 6 to come.
I called and they told me they didn't have any rooms at the moment and to call back in two hours.
So i got up and installed our car seat and went next door since Heather was up and Sean was sleeping from a getting home from a shift. I called the hospital again and they told me they still didnt have any room and to call back in two hours. So i double checked everything and made sure we were completely ready for our guy. I called again and still no room.

About 45 minutes after i had called L&D i received a phone call from a nurse asking how fast we could get to the hospital, i told her that luckily we live less then 10 minutes away and we were told to be there exactly at 2. Finally we had a time!!

We went in and were admitted and went up and got into out laboring room. This room was small and in a wing that was meant for woman in labor but not active labor. They gave my does of Cytotec and hello contractions. They were 5 minutes apart and coming pretty strong so we did laps on the L&D floor in hopes that it would help us along. They came and checked me and i was still at a 1 and showing no cervical change. So we kept walking and doing excersizes to try and encourage James to drop further down and engage. At 11 pm they checked me and i was at a 1.5 but still not showing any change and they decided to send me home to continue labor there. I was devastated, i was here thinking we were going to leave with a baby just to be sent home. They gave me a shot to try and help me sleep and relieve some of the pain and it worked for a little while, just enough time to get home and fall asleep and then BOOM. Active Labor woke me up and came on hard.
I had to walk during my contractions but i was so tired that in between i wanted to sit down. My poor husband was laying on the floor in front of the couch and had to move every two minutes so that i could walk during an contraction and sleep on the couch in between.

I called the hospital around 4:30 am when my contractions were a little less then two minutes apart and they told me to come in. We got there and i was admitted and they checked me and i was at a 3.5 and they said they were going to keep me. I cried i was so happy, and tired!
Before i was induced i wanted to see how long i could do without an epidural but i didn't plan on being induced either so i guess you have to be flexible when having a baby.

I got my epidural around 7 and slept for most of the morning, and then our family started to show up.
They were checking me throughout the day and we were making steady progress and around 4 pm that we were going to start pushing soon since i was at a 9.5
A rush of emotions hit me all at once, it was the happiest yet scariest point in my life.
at 4:30 we started pushing about an hour into it my midwife mentioned there was meconium in my waters so they were going to have the NICU team come in and suction his airway to make sure he wouldn't inhale anything he wasn't supposed.

Crazy moment, the NICU Nurse who suctioned my sons airway was a Mom for my swim team, her daughter was my student in lessons and my swimmer on the swim team. Small world!

Sean  delivered James at 6:22 pm and whisked  him over to the table to have his airway suctioned. Sean  was the first one to hold and see our son, i took my glasses off while i was pushing so everything was kind of a blur.
But finally after this journey they brought my baby boy over to me and i was so happy i couldn't stop crying.
Best day of my life. Hands down.
I wish i could relive this day over and over again.

James weighed a whopping 8 lbs 9.4 oz and was 20 1/4 inches long with a head full of red hair.
His Apgar was 9/9 and he was absolute perfection.
